Diet and Wellbeing

Below is an excerpt from the Preserving Health DVD

Living in the same natural environment, why do some people get ill while others are not affected? The human constitution is the key factor. When referring to a person we see that they are catergorised as either Yin or Yang dominant. To get the body balance right we should choose the foods that belong to the opposite nature.

Food should be differentiated according to different constitutions, age, sex, living environments and seasons. Most, but not all, vegetables belong to the “yin” type, which means cool and cold, while most seasonings are “yang” type with characteristics being warm and hot.

“Disease comes from diet”, but in Chinese medicine this is more significant. In fact traditional Chinese medicine confirms that diet has a great impact on asthma, Gout, menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, giving birth, constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and acne. Difficulties associated with these life-changing events could be caused through eating the wrong group of food and could be corrected by simply changing the nature of the food through the combination of the ingredients or the way of cooking.
